Products & Services
We offer a timber milling service, you can bring your timber to us or we can supply you. Using our Alaskan Chain Saw Mill we can turn trunks to planks with relative ease. We accommodate 10ft lengths at 2ft wide. We can even kiln dry the lumber for you in our on site drying kiln.
As we work our way through the woods of Northumberland we're always saving the nicest pieces for more than burning. These are typically milled down to rough sawn boards back at our yard & left to dry in our stores before being made into something new. Kitchen tables, picnic sets, benches, chopping boards, all sorts. Drop us a line to discuss your interests.
Felled timber is dried for two years in the stack, processed to logs, kiln dried and left in our airing barns until delivery to the customer. Our timber travels no further than 15 miles from woodland to customer. We can provide hardwood, softwood, seasoned or green. We have a fiercely loyal customer base on our order books, but we're always happy to hear from new friends & will add you to our list.
Roundwood lengths of hard & softwood can be purchased subject to supplies in required lengths, diameters & volume. Please contact for details.
Our charcoal is made using only British hardwood branch wood gathered from our thinning work. These timbers when carbonised to make charcoal in our ring kilns burn hotter & longer than imported charcoal, lights with no additives and add value to our woods as well helping keep a healthy forest floor. The charcoal is graded to 3 sizes, BBQ lump wood sold locally as Lindisfarne Charcoal, further afield as Northumbria Charcoal, a smaller grade used by our good friend and master farrier Micky Cross, & the smallest grade bagged & delivered to The Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh as a soil conditioner in the glass houses. There's no waste here, ever!
As well as the woods we manage for ourselves we also undertake contract forestry work. Woodland appraisal, brashing, thinning, footpaths, habitat creation, fencing, timber extraction, whatever your needs it may be worth dropping us a line. If we can't help we may know someone that can.
Are you interested in working alongside us to see how we do what we do, or would you like to learn to make charcoal? We can tailor make a course to your interests & time, & have an off-grid woodland cabin for rent which can be used in conjunction with a course or is available independently for short stays, drop us a line for course details or click here to book the cabin.
